Unable to transfer student to new tutor group on Bromcom

When trying to move a student from one tutor group to another we received an Error 500: Internal Server Error

The reason for this is because the Tutor Group and therefore the student had no end date on their membership of that tutor group and a student can only be a member of one tutor group at any one time and the transfer option cannot enter a date into a NULL field (it can only update a field with an existing value)

Solution – go into student record and put an end date on their membership of the tutor group – they can then be assigned to a new tutor group.

Click on the tutor group and then select the pencil icon to edit 

Untick the Track Group End Date button and enter the date you wish to end the student's membership of the Tutor Group and Save 

You can then add the student into a new Tutor Group 

Bromcom are escalating this to the developers to produce a fix

In the meantime - the easiest way to avoid this issue is to make sure that all teaching classes and tutor groups have an end date
